  • Peak covers per hour — determines the abuse the chairs receive in the busiest two hours.

Why do commercial dining chairs fail faster than the specification suggests?

Because the loading is not the loading a chair test represents. A dining chair in a busy venue is dragged, tipped onto two legs, used as a step and stacked against its neighbour. The failure usually starts at the front leg joint or the seat rail rather than in the upholstery. In our experience specifying a heavier joint and a replaceable foot costs far less than upgrading the visible finish.

How much banquet stacking damage can a supplier prevent at the design stage?

A meaningful amount, and it is mostly about geometry and contact points. Chairs that stack with frame-to-frame contact, or that stack so tightly that the seats touch, will mark each other within a season.
